New Endeavors

While we are still healing up from the marathon, Cheryl and I have taken up kick-boxing. This is a lot of FUN. We've gone three times now. We now know the difference between a jab, upper-cut and a hook. Watch out for Cheryl!... she has a MEAN round-house kick.

Another of our new endeavors is doodling. We are taking a doodling class by Joanne Sharpe. You might wonder if we actually need a class to doodle... the answer is YES! Doodling is ART!Well, maybe we're not making art yet, but we are having a lot of fun making pictures using a lot of different techniques:

Here is the cover for my doodle album:

We are told to cast aside our inhibitions and draw like a second grader:

We started with a doodle tree:

Here is my first doodle flower garden... FAIL!

Now that is a doodle flower garden! This is with pen and ink.

Here is another one that I did with pen and watercolor. I don't like this technique as much:

Cheryl wanted me to share her doodle flower garden:

There is more to come with acrylic and paint markers... stay tuned.

PTI 6th Anniversary Celebration

This month I've been following the PTI Anniversary Celebration. I didn't have much time to join any of the challenges... up until NOW! We were supposed to find a photo on pinterest that inspires us to create a gift packaging project. I have lots of gift boxes pinned on pinterest, and I picked a very unusual one to share.

It all starts with....

Cut it up so that it looks like this:

There is a lot of room in there for a gift. I'm thinking of making these to give cookies to the neighbors next Christmas.

I used PTI product of course... the card you can see inside used the Heart-2-Heart #5 Mini Stamp Setand the Fillable Frames #4 Mini Stamp Set.

The label that I used for the packaging is from the Mat Stack 1 Collection Stamp Set and the 2011 Birthday Tags Stamp Set.

If you want to make one for yourself, here is the link on pinterest for the milk container box:

Altered Capri Sun Boxes

It's been a couple of week since my last post. There have been no races, no trips, and no crafting for a while now. Well, I have had a busy crafting weekend!

My sister-in-law helps organize a Christmas boutique at her kids' elementary school. They sell inexpensive items for kids to buy for their parents, siblings and friends. I think this is a fabulous idea, so when she asked me to help, I agreed.

She got four Capri Sun boxes, cut them into a type of organizer, and covered them with contact paper. She gave them to me, and I worked with my sizable scrapbook stash to decorate.

She asked to make a couple masculine and a couple feminine. Here is what I came up with:

This first box is the "All Star" box:

Then we have the "Soccer" box:

This is the "Diva" box:

Lastly, we have the "Hippie Chick" box:

I left lots of room on the labels, so that the kids could write on them. I hope they sell well.

It's Card Kit TIme

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a GREAT week!
This month it's my turn to put together the card kit! YIPEE!!! I tried to control myself, but it's just so much FUN adding thing to a kit for my online scrapping friends to play with! Here is the kit... I've been holding on to this paper from Christy Thomlinson for what seems like forever. I actually had to hide if from myself to keep from using it. It's a good thing I remembered where I hid it!

Here is what I had pictured in my mind when I created the kit. I know not all the ladies are into mixed media, but how can I use Chrsity's paper and not do a mixed media project?

My next couple of projects are boxes that I made up for my niece and nephew's birthday.

Now what is the use of having a card kit, if I don't make a couple of cards?!! This first one is my favorite. It was so FAST and EASY using what I put into the kit.

On my second card, I wanted to use banners. Look! My first banner card!

If you are a blog follower, you've seen this card before. But, I added a PP border with paper left over from the kit. I think it adds something special to the card!

It's Card Kit Time!

Happy Monday! I hope you are all having a good weekend. Mara put together the kit for this month... a perfect kit for Father's Day! I cut into this kit right away, so it's a good thing that Mara sent us a picture of the kit for our blogs.

My project this month is not a card, but a box. I always love the GREAT decorated boxes done by Mara. She's on the design team at My Time Made Easy. They have such wonderful box templates! Beth also makes great gift boxes for gift card giving, instead of just sliding them in an envelope.

Well, here is my box. I made it to hold my dad's Father's Day gift. I recycled a mailing box, and prettied it up for gift giving!

I LOVE all the wonderful embellishments! That's my favorite part of the kits. Everything matches! I also get some embellishments that I would not normally use or try myself. Look I created my first flags :oD

Christmas Surprises

I'm sure you can guess what these are, so not a big surprise there... but my co-workers will be surprised! We don't give each other presents at Christmas. I thought that since this will be the last time I'm going to see them (because of my lay-off), I'd give them something to remember me by.

I have 20 wrapped candy bars for my friends. I know they aren't very fancy, but I'm sure they'll still be appreciated. I got the idea for this quick and easy surprise from the 12 days of Christmas challenge at Scrapbook Deals 4U.

Here's the quote I'm giving out with them:

A day or two ago,
I thought I’d make a treat,
For all my special friends-

A Christmas gift to eat.
My intentions were top notch,
But my schedule would not budge,
Hence, here’s this year’s edition

Of homemade Christmas Fudge!

My Running Log

Here is the journal that I made for myself to keep track of my miles.

The first page has tallys for the year.

Each month page has a tally for each week and month. There are also pages for race times and scores.

I'm also going to keep track of when I bought my shoes, so I know when to change them out.

Here is Chris' running log... His has an acrylic cover over it.
