Project Life - The Road to a Marathon

There are so many digital goodies available for Project Life... journal cards, title cards, filler cards, photo templates, quote cards... But nothing themed to running or more specifically, a MARATHON! So I'm trying my hand at making some running related Project Life cards.

Here is my first one. This is going to go on my cover page. What do you think?

If you would like this card for your Project Life project, click the image above for a free download.

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday to Jim!

We had an unconventional birthday; celebrating with birthday cookies on Friday, and Big Boy ice cream sandwiches on Sunday at my folk's house.

That snowman is hiding a creeper board that he can use to slide in and out from under the truck.

Happy birthday, Jim!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

Project Life - Disneyland 5K

I have jumped into the Project Life fad with both feet, but unlike most, I decided to go digital... Yep, Digital Project Life! My Project Life book is going to focus on our 2013 goal --- Our FIRST Marathon (and in my case, my only marathon).

I haven't designed our cover page yet, but I'm working on it. The first page of this book is going to be about the Disneyland Never Land 5K. It's sort of the kick-off for our 18-week marathon training.

Here's my first page:

Stay tuned! More to come...

Disneyland 5K

It's our first race of the year, and aur kick-off to our 18 week marathon training! That's right! The kids and I are running marathon (more on that later). Last year the Neverland 5K was at night and included tickets to Disneyland. We spent the day at the park, and then ran a 5K trhough Disneyland and California Adventure after the parks closed. It was a BLAST. This year however, they changed it up. The 5K race does not include park admission AND the race is in the morning.

We had to leave the house at 4:30am to get to the race on time. At least it wasn't as cold as it has been... it was a balm-y 47F, haha. We left Jim at the gate to Disneyland. We entered Disneyland to start the race... Jim entered California Adventure to meet us at the finish line.

Here we are waiting to start at the END of Group C... We must have a castle picture:

It was so crowded being at the end of the group, that we were walking almost all the way up to "It's a Small World." It was still all lit up for Christmas!

It was exciting to run through the new California Adventure area "Cars Land." They had it all set up like downtown Radiator Springs:

We finished the race near the ferris wheel just in time to see the sunrise over California Adventure:

I hope that everyone had a wonderful long weekend!
It's back to work and school for us tomorrow!

PTI Make-it Monday

Today I'm playing along with the PaperTrey Ink Make It Monday #100 Challenge. The Challenge this week is to make a package for a card with oversized embellishments.

Here is the card I made using the 2011 Birthday Tags Stamp Set:

And here is the matching envelope madefrom a sheet of vellum:

I LOVE how pretty it looks together!

The 12 Tags of Christmas

Last year I worked on one Christmas tag a month. By December I had 12 tags DONE! I LOVED having all my Christmas Tags done before Christmas!

This year I want to follow Tim's Holtz's 12-tags for 2013... my tags are so much fancier when I follow his tutorials. After all, I'm starting early, so I have the time!

Here is the link to Tim's post....

A Random Day

How about a day starting with a morning of ice, a trip through the snow to the desert where we saw a giant sea serpent AND a life and death battle between a grasshopper and a scorpion?

It's just a typical New Year's Eve in Southern California, haha!

So, Cheryl and I started with an early morning run... 5:30am and 37F! It was COLD! The grass and roofs were frosted, and the cars were covered in ice.

While we were gone, Jim was packing up the truck for our trip to the desert.

This is a trip to the DESERT? We certainly didn't expect SNOW!

WELCOME to the Anza Borrego Desert!

A rich guy whose family made their millions by inventing Post-Its paid to have these huge metal statues put up to generate tourism to the little town of Borrego Springs. The statues are scattered throughout the town... it's like being on a scavenger hunt.

Here is the sea serpent. It's HUGE... its humps span the highway!

We also liked the grasshopper vs the scorpion...

Here's Team Grasshopper:

... And here's Team Scorpion:

We also did a little 4-wheeling while we were out there:

Thanks for joining us on our typical Southern California Day!

All photos were taken on my Galaxy TAB. I love how easy it is to post to the blog using the TAB!
